Power to the People

It is common to see skinny, barely breathing/living white girls and boys (just kiddin'..slightly) on the runways and catwalks, in the magazines and ads...but there aren't that many black models..of course there are the more famous ones - naomi and tyra, iman, now coco as well, a few others as well..but the fashion magazines are all about white girls/boys, so it is a historical move for Vogue Italia July issue to only have black models featured in it..which is a brave statement to make, since Italy has its xenophobic tendencies..

But..Will it still be topical a year from now or is it just another trend, forgotten by the next season?..And what about other ethnicities in the fashion industry? Black is not necessarily the only ethnic group being ignored in mainstream fashion world..asian,latin,indian etcetc..will we be seeing them in Vogue Italia special editions any time soon?..highly doubtful..

Anyway, here are some of the editorial shots from the July issue.
