Winter In Your Heart

Snow makes everything better, have I already written that in one of my previous posts? Because it truly does.Especially when the sun glistens back from it.How can one not be happy?..
On Sunday, me and my Giraffe of a dear friend (who came for a little visit from the birthplace of Renaissance) went for a walk with a camera.Or actually I walked and freezed my ass off, while taking pictures. But it was worth it.
Why? There really is no way how to describe the feeling I got while walking through the park and at the same time my earphones provided the perfect soundtrack for what I was doing. In the wide spectrum of movies, there exists this cool little ditty called Across The Universe, which has amazing music in it.Ok, fine lets be fair - one cannot really fuck up with The Beatles music, now can they?..On second thought, yeah, it's possible..
Anyways, what I'm trying to write is that while I took pictures, I listened to the ATU soundtrack. Some of the actors sing the songs themselves, giving a different vibe and they are not bad.Not bad at all:) With A Little Help From My Friends, I Am Walrus, Let It Be, Come Together, I Want You, Helter Skelter etc. were playing and holy shit - everything was even more vivid. The colors, the texture of the nature, everything.

[On a sidenote, Joe Cocker does THE best Beatles cover with his performance of With A Little Help From My Friends at Woodstck..that thing right there is my fucking nirvana!..i cannot even count how many times i've watched that clip..oh, and he has a small part in the ATU movie as well]

Mmmm, hot cocoa after the frickin' cold weather outside was like a little cup of heaven..Soooooo good!!:)

BBC Sound of 2010

Usully lists are weird and very subjective and have no point at all, except to the people who made them. But there are exceptions. And one I really, really like is the BBC Sound one.
Because it actually kinda sorta gets it right for the upcoming music year (many may agree or not with the choices).
I just like it, because I get the chance to discover some new music. And also compare at the end of the year, whether the predictions were correct or not.
So here it is, I will put some videos and the introductory stuff from the list.

1.Ellie Goulding
If Kate Bush, Bjork and Stevie Nicks shared a flat in trendy Shoreditch in 2010, this noise would emerge.

I really like her voice, how she changes the range..

2. Marina and the Diamonds

Her voice has this cool bassy sound..weirdly reminds of Florence&TM at some point..But the video is like Katy Perry 2.0, and it srsly freaks me out.So thankfully I found the acostic version as well. And it is 100x times better.

3. Delphic

Am I paranoid or is this like an eclectic mix of MGMT and the Klaxons?..Throw in a bit of New Order and Friendly Fires as well.

4. Hurts
Musically, they construct melancholic 1980s-inspired electro-pop with songs that they say are inspired by the British mentality of being "not too bad".

I fucking love this song!!
It's like Depeche Mode/New Order/Tears For Fears, only more darker..And the video, the video is exactly sth that would have been made in the 80s.By Anton Corbjin, like the article mentioned and I have to agree with it.
Hypnotic

5. The Drums

Quite the catchy song..Surf pop.

Devlin

Hm, i don't even know..Not for me at the moment.

Daisy Dares You

Um, teeny-pop'ish..
Same as the previous,nope.

Everything Everything
I really like this surreal song.

Giggs
Interesting

Gold Panda

Japanese influence is obvious, it makes the sound more layered and interesting.

Joy Orbison

Owl City

God damn song has been haunting my brain for two months now, gaahh..

Rox

So good, amazing vocals, jazzy+funky vibe.Me likey a lot.

Stornoway
This band right here is a musical pearl (well, for me at least).

Two Door Cinema Club

Nice indie pop-rock.
***
Those were the 15 artists on the list..
And the bands going to my crappy ipod-replacement-mp3-player are: Hurts, Stornoway, The Drums, Gold Panda, Two Door Cinema Club, Rox.

SO MUCH EPIC WIN IN THIS POST!

I woke up one friday morning a couple of weeks ago, made a cup of coffee, ate breakfast..Since I don't like hot coffee, I usually let it cool off for quite a bit..So, there I was, searching something online when suddenly I discovered myself watching YouTube clips of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, where his guest was Ewan McGregor..Let me just say that watching the aforementioned show equals a fucking cold coffee to drink later. Why?Because it's impossible to watch it without laughing and when I laugh really hard, I have tears in my eyes. So trying to drink, wipe tears and watch the show at the same time is one hot mess:)
How on earth have i not discovered these clips before?!?
Ewan McGregor has been on the show 3 times by now..They're seriously freakin' hilarious together and have this routine going on already: dance-bits in the beginning, then EM tries to unsuccessfully promo his new movie and somehow they end up talking about planes..um,oops, now i ruined it for newbies..

Watch these with no drinks at hand and/or no objects in your mouth:)Oh, and a sense of humor is also advisable.

"Yeah, all the Star Wars nude scences just some how didn't make it into the film.."

"I was like Dii-ick"..."The great thing about picking up homeless people is that you can drop them off anywhere!"

"You could dress up and put shoes on your knees.."

"Ivan, I am your father!"

No goats were harmed..

"Ewan McGregor, everybody. We'll be right back!..Oh,no that's your line."

But..but..where is the ESPN UK part...:(

I absolutely LOVE Ewan Mcgregor's laugh..
The best part about these clips is that they never get old..

Oh, and if anyone hasn't seen Long Way Round or Long Way Down - then get to it.Now!
Long Way Round (LWR) is a documentary television series documenting the 19,000 miles (31,000 km) journey of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman from London to New York on motorcycles. They travelled eastwards through Europe and Asia, flew to Alaska and continued by road from there to New York.

"Usually people bring a coffee; he brought a fucking machine gun!"

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman followed up their epic Long Way Round trip by riding south through 18 countries from John o' Groats in Scotland to Cape Agulhas in South Africa via Europe and Africa in 2007, calling it Long Way Down.

The xx

London-based band The xx has put me in a total trance today.I cannot stop listening to their album. It is brilliant. The sounds are haunting and suck you right in.
When I first heard one of their songs, I was like 'hm, this is actually pretty interesting'.So I re-played the song and before I knew it, I had listened to it 10 times in a row. That kinda proves my point of sucking one into their music.

#Music#

Sometimes I forget little gems of music and when I rediscover them from the world wide web, it brings back the oh-man-it's-still-so-good-recognition.Plus more.

One of those gems is Warpaint, an almost all-girl-group from L.A with a psychedelic/jazzy sound.First heard them about 2 years ago and it totally blew my mind.Still does.
Their music is very fitting for Autumn, chill and yet full of so many emotions, layers.

PERFECT.This song is perfect. /feat. Josh Klinghoffer on drums and John Frusciante on mellotron/

They have a really awesome video for Stars, from their debut EP Exquisite Corpse on MySpace.Oh, and J.Frusciante co-mixed the EP.
Put your headphones on and watch it with full screen:)

White Blank Page

"I can feel it happening again.
The soft hands of darkness envelop me into a hold
that deflects every speck of light.
When will it end?..

When body and soul stop being two separate entities
and unite as a whole"
"Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be"

*********************************************

"You're not the only person
To get it wrong
Its all right"

I just fucking need to keep repeating that to myself and maybe the crappy feeling will go away..I mean, FFS..ONE thing...one thing and i can't even do that right..

#Movie spam#

There are many many movies coming out in the near future (or are already in cinemas) that I'm really looking forward to seeing.
Anyways - trailers trailers trailers:)

The first time I saw this trailer was in spring,it was showed before TBTR.
And I almost had tears in my eyes, from a freaking trailer! That has never happened to me before, ever!Which shows just how important music is to a movie. And the soundtrack of this film IS amazing!
So either I was in LaLa land back then or this will be a fuckawesome movie:)
It is based on the very popular children's book by Maurice Sendak and the director is Spike Jonze.
Spike motherfucking Jonze. *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel*

Johnny Depp + Tim Burton=PURE WIN

Joseph Gordon-Levitt..um, wow, i like the husky voice..very much so:D
"Boy meets girl.Boy falls in love.Girl doesn't."

"In the post-war, pre-Beatles London suburbs, a bright schoolgirl is torn between studying for a place at Oxford and the more exciting alternative offered to her by a charismatic older man."
So, will it be education by books or life experience..

"A young girl who has been murdered watches over her family--and her killer--from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal."
Peter Jackson.Peter Jackson.Peter Jackson.
x100.
I have to get my hands on the book as well!!

"Iraq. Forced to play a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse in the chaos of war, an elite Army bomb squad unit must come together in a city where everyone is a potential enemy and every object could be a deadly bomb. When a new sergeant, James (Jeremy Renner), takes over a highly trained bomb disposal team amidst violent conflict, he surprises his two subordinates, Sanborn and Eldridge (Anthony Mackie and Brian Geraghty), by recklessly plunging them into a deadly game of urban combat. James behaves as if hes indifferent to death. As the men struggle to control their wild new leader, the city explodes into chaos, and James true character reveals itself in a way that will change each man forever."
This is supposed to be one of those good movies very few know about. Why?Ask the asshats over at Suckmit (Summit) Entertainment.I swear to god that company doesn't know it has a good movie in their hands until it's already too late.Sheesh, way to ruin the chances at the moronic February/March shenanigans.

"A collection of stories directed by a diverse group of filmmakers including Mira Nair, Brett Ratner, Allen Hughes and Natalie Portman.Sexy, funny, haunting and revealing encounters unfold beneath the Manhattan skyline. From Tribeca to Central Park to Brooklyn the story weaves a tale of love as diverse as the very fabric of New York itself."
NY&Ethan Hawke=Phoenix - 1901

"Benjamin (Michael Angarano), home-schooled by his eccentric mother (Jennifer Coolidge), is a loveable loner whose passion for writing leads him on an offbeat and hilarious journey as his story first gets ripped off by the legendary fantasy novelist, Ronald Chevalier (Jemaine Clement) and then is adapted into a disastrous movie by the small towns most prolific homespun filmmaker."
Half of FOTC - JEMAINE!..
But i don't know what the eff is going on with this movie..Is it so bad it unintentionally becomes funny or is it just bad, or is it very good with a kooky vibe?!..hjelp!
The tit dart was cool though:)

"A desperate father takes his ten-year-old son, Chook, on the run after committing a violent crime. As the two journey into the desert and an unknown future, their troubled relationship and the need to survive sees them battling the elements and each other. Chook eventually takes control and the choice he is forced to make has a devastating effect on both their lives."

"Ryan Bingham is a corporate downsizing expert whose cherished life on the road is threatened just as he is on the cusp of reaching ten million frequent flyer miles and just after hes met the frequent-traveler woman of his dreams."
This one has garnered some pretty positive buzz for the award season..hm

"A traveling magician sells his daughter to the devil in exchange for a life of extraordinary powers."
My kind of a movie

"The story of a secret unit within the US Army called the First Earth Battalion, whose paranormal military ideas mutated over the decades to influence interrogation techniques at Guantanamo Bay."
Hello, Ewan Mcgregor, seems like you made an awesome movie:)

"A grieving couple retreat to Eden, their isolated cabin in the woods, where they hope to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. But nature takes its course and things go from bad to worse..."
Interesting..

"Katie and Micah were enjoying a happy and carefree existence. Their future looked promising until bizarre events begin to occur at night. In order to get to the bottom of things, Katie and Micah purchase a video camera to find out what happens at night while they slept."
This one I wanna see because I'm seriously interested if the hype for this movie is just that - hype.Because it can go both ways - too far or not far enough.
Looks like Blair Witch Project in a house:)

"In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document-until now. Set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where--mysteriously since the 1960s--a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented."
Again, whether it is any good or not - who the eff knows, but it looks interesting.

The thing with these creepy ass movies is that they all put the emphasis on the fact that the movie is based on real-life events etc.And that is what makes people freak out in the cinema. It is the best method of getting viewers to identify with the character.Very effective.Works almost every time.
If the guy there had that happen to him, oh holy shit, what if I go home, into my bed..and it will happen to me too..omg omg *cue the heebiejeebies in the person's overactive brain* eeeeeeep!..shit!fuuck..this movie is SO scary..
Pssht,yeah..

Oh and on the hype thing.Slumdog Millionaire was waaaay overhyped.Seriously.
Don't get me wrong it is a good movie, and all that jazz. But for me, this is one of those examples of the buzz running too far ahead of the movie.
